Just Jump! Hebrews 11:1-9
Jumping is an action, a choice followed by moving. James 2:26 -for as the body without spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. ( Newton’s Law) an object will not change its motion unless acted on by an outside force. An object at rest will remain at rest. Jumping out on faith has a cost, as well as not jumping out on faith. God can help you and push you to climb to the peak of your mountain of adversity, to the peak of your platform just to tell you to jump down because there is more work for you to do. He showed you it’s possible, now have faith that he can do it again. Be careful how you treat those you pass by while climbing, you may need them on your way down.
1.) Abandon fear (Hebrews 11:1-2) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seem. For by it, the elders obtained a good report.
God is not going to allow you to fail if he calls you to the position. If he tells you to jump, it’s because he’s there to ensure you don’t fall. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct our paths. (Luke 1:37) For nothing will be impossible with God.
2.) Affirming sovereignty (Hebrews 11:3) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
We have to get to the place where we are reminded nothing we have is our own. The peak of my platform is an accomplishment of the work I put in to get here but it’s also a reminder that it is not possible without God. It is Gods platform and if it was not for his purpose for our lives we’d have no accomplishments. Be careful to not glorify yourself for your accomplishments, be careful how you accept praise for your accomplishments, all the glory and praise is God’s. If it had not been for him they are not possible. Pray less about WHAT YOU WANT but for what GOD HAS FOR YOU!
3.) Anticipating Evidence (Hebrew 11:4-7) It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith. It was by faith that Enoch was taken to heaven without dying—he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up , he was known as a person who pleases God. And it is impossible to please God without faith, anyone who wants to come to him must believe that he rewards those sincerely seek him. It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us new in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
4.) Assuming Success ( Hebrew 11:8 ) it was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.
God is asking for your trust, to jump. Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard of the great things God has in store for us!
